Dmitry Medvedev takes part in Sabantuy in Kazan
Today in Kazan, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev took part in the national holiday of Sabantuy.
Accompanied by Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, the head of state visited the Birchwood (Mirny, Kazan). In the central maidan they saw a theatrical performance Sabantuy uennary, in which performers from Tatarstan and other Russian regions played.
Sabantuy traditioally inlcudes various sporting contests and competitions and winners receive gifts and prizes.
In the Birchwood, where the festival is staged, concert venues and entertainment areas are organized.
Three venues host Sabantuy in Kazan: the Birchwood, the forest area near Lake Lebyazhye and the grove near the village of Derbyshki.
This year, Sabantuy's main arena is the Birchwood.
