Country enhances ties with Tatarstan Republic
HA NOI - Trade ties between Viet Nam and the Russian Federation was expected to reap an estimated US$1 billion by the end of this year, National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Van An told visiting State Council Chairman of the Republic of Tatarstan (a republic associated with the Russian Federation) Farid Mukhametshin yesterday.
In the last eight months of this year, trade turnover between the two sides reached a promising $703 million, An said at a meeting with Mukhametshin at the International Trade Fair on Industrial Products of Viet Nam.
Trade and economic relations between Viet Nam and the Republic of Tatarstan would ther develop, trade turnover between the two countries, An said, pointing to the strong showing of Vietnamese exports, including foodstuff and seafood, in the Russian market and Tatarstan. An said Mukhametshin's visit would further strengthen relations between Viet Nam and Tatarstan and the Russian Federation as a whole, and ties in political, economic, trade, petroleum, energy, science and technology, education and training, defense and security fields.
Co-operation among regions of both countries had prospered over the years, and both nations need to further promote strong and effective trade and economic relations, An said.
Thanking the Vietnamese leader, Chairman Mukhametshin briefed him about the current situations in Tatarstan, and hoped his visit would increase friendship and cooperation between Viet Nam, the Russian Federation and Tatarstan.
