The Second Meeting of the Group of the Strategic Vision “Russia – Islamic World” We, participants of the Second Meeting of the Group of the “Strategic Vision: Russia – Islamic World”, would like to note with satisfaction the positive example of interconfessional peace, stable co-existence of confessions and nations, progressive development of cultures and religious thought, which is presented by Tatarstan, the republic with dominating Muslim population within the Russian Federation.
The experience of successful economic and social development of Tatarstan and all Russia not only proves the possibility of constructive cooperation of various religions, in the first place Orthodox Christianity and Islam, but also demonstrates that with education of the youth in the spirit of tolerance and under the skilful political guidance the interaction of various believes is not only fruitful, but also can become a generator of dynamic growth in all spheres of public life.
It is the partnership of different cultures and religions, each of which has made a unique contribution to the world history, and not their confrontation, that should become a basis for further development of humankind. Islamophobia will not pay dividends to anyone, it only worsens the situation. In this regard, we call for concrete efforts to enhance dialogue and broaden understanding among civilizations, cultures and religions by promoting tolerance, respect and freedom of religion and belief.
We deem it is important to raise public awareness throughout the world on the tenets and values of Islam, including among the youth, and underline the crucial role of the mass media in this regard. Educational institutions should include interfaith studies in their programs.
We reiterate our devotion through the noble ideas of peace, humanism and tolerance to respond to the challenges facing humanity in the 21st century. We strongly condemn terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, denounce any attempts to link terrorism with any religions or national affiliations. It is possible to cope with misfortunes and adversities of the humankind, with international terrorism only through speedy peaceful settlement of conflicts as a principle objective of the international organizations. We also deem it is important to enhance and broaden dialogue among civilizations. In this lies our strategic vision, providing peace and consent in the multinational and multiconfessional world community.
The participants of the meeting “Russia-Islamic World” express the deepest gratitude to the President of the Republic of Tatarstan, His Excellency Mr. Mintimer Shaimiev, Tatarstan Government and its people for extraordinary warm reception and perfect organization of the Second meeting of the Strategic Vision Group “Russia-Islamic World”.
