Statement of the Group of the Strategic Vision “Russia - Islamic World”

We, representatives of Russia and some member countries of the Organization of the Islamic Conference, having gathered in Kazan for the second meeting of the Group of the Strategic Vision “Russia – Islamic World” declare the following:

The recent war of Israel in Lebanon which has no common with antiterror operation has clearly demonstrated the danger of unleashing full-scale military operations in the Middle East and split in the world according to civilizational differences. The further development of events in such a scenario, in the absence of active steps from the world community can become irreversible and create a real threat to the future of the humankind. In this connection, the role of international organizations, such as the United Nations, as well as the Organization of the Islamic Conference, the League of Arab States, becomes of special importance. We feel that international organisations should restructure themselves in order to be more effective in combating urgent problems of the world.

We believe that these organizations can, and should, not only fulfil, their responsibilities for the maintenance of international peace and security on the basis of respect for international law and the international legitimacy, but also playing an effective and objective role in fighting xenophobia and extremism on the international arena.

Contemporary problems are mostly generated because of misunderstanding ignorance and the non settlement of international disputes based on the relevant resolutions. World community cannot allow the iron curtain to descend across our Earth once again. All men should remember that, taking into account the global character of today’s threats, we can resist them only all together.

The future of our planet in many aspects will depend on the results of our actions.
