Mari culture holiday Semyk to be celebrated in Tatarstan The republican holiday of Mari culture Semyk will be held in Mari-Bulyar village, Muslum District, Tatarstan on June 27.
The press-service of Tatarstan Ministry of Culture informs that folklore teams will perform at the festival. An exhibition of craftsmen, the contest “Mari Beauty” will be organized. The event guests will also have a chance to participate in sport and traditional games.
The holiday Semyk starts the series of Mari people’s summer holidays. By tradition, during the holiday people used to visit each other, sing and dance, play the bagpipe and gusli. Youth used to arrange games and sing songs.
